Sustainability

Business intelligence and data solutions provider with sustainability in mind

Our approach to sustainability

Sustainability isn’t a standalone initiative at CSL. It’s built into how we operate.

For us, that means looking honestly at how we do business and the impact we have on our people, customers, communities and the wider healthcare sector.

We think about that impact in three areas – people, planet and principles. Much of what sits under those headings has been part of the business for years, simply because it’s the right way to operate: treating our employees well, acting ethically, using resources responsibly, and reducing our impact on the environment. None of that is new to us. What is changing is how deliberately we track it. We are measuring our impact where we can, setting clearer targets, and being honest about where there’s still work to do.

planet

Understanding and reducing our environmental impact is an important part of our sustainability approach. Since 2022, we have measured and reported our greenhouse gas emissions annually, giving us a better understanding of where our emissions arise and how they are changing over time. This data helps us identify priorities and supports our commitment as a signatory to the SME Climate Commitment to halve our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2050.

CSL has also been awarded an EcoVadis Gold Medal, providing independent recognition of our environmental, ethical and governance performance and helping us identify areas for continued improvement.

principles

Responsible business practices are central to how CSL operates. We believe strong ethical standards, transparency and accountability are essential to building lasting relationships with our customers, suppliers, colleagues and partners.

These principles are supported by a range of policies and governance controls, including our Human Rights and Corporate Responsibility Policy and Anti-Slavery Policy. Together, they set out our expectations for ethical business conduct, respect for human rights and the prevention of modern slavery within our business and supply chain. We maintain ISO 27001 certification to ensure information is managed securely and participate in independent assessments such as EcoVadis to benchmark our performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

people

We recognise that our employees are fundamental to our success. We support them through learning and development opportunities, wellbeing initiatives, flexible ways of working and employee support programmes. Our aim is to provide an inclusive working environment where people can develop their skills, contribute effectively and progress in their careers.

We also recognise the importance of giving back to the communities around us, supporting a range of local and national causes chosen by our employees and customers through charitable giving, fundraising and volunteering. From food bank collections to providing Christmas dinner for women and children in a local refuge, these initiatives allow us make a positive contribution beyond our day-to-day business.
